Life is but a Netflix queue created by an idiot...

and in this case, that "idiot" is Lady Macbeth.

Number 1: Breaking Bad
TV Series

Lady Macbeth relates more with the later seasons of this series, about an average high school chemistry teacher who begins to do illegal things and get in deeper and deeper trouble. At some point, his wife discovers his secret and is appalled, but later she is on his side, and in season 5 in particular, seems to be calling the shots and giving orders. A parallel to how Macbeth had to do the dirty work, but the motivation and orders essentially came from Lady Macbeth.

Number 2: Scandal
TV Series

Number 3: Harry Potter (Focus on #6 and 7)
Movie Series

Lady Macbeth's struggle in life is her ultimate goal to achieve power. With her relation

Number 4: New Girl
TV Series

If you were to play "Which of these is not like the others?" New Girl would definitely be it. A TV series about a female moving in and living with 3 other males, I believe Lady Macbeth could relate well to the main character Jess. She fits in well with men because of her slightly masculine behavior, and Lady Macbeth's secret desire to become part of the male gender.

  1. I like how you mentioned Walters wife in breaking bad as a parallel to Lady Macbeth in the sense that she called the shots one season. I would like to expand on that by saying that after Walt got caught she became kind of insane and resented Walter. Walter was also killed in the end. He also betrayed his own friend. Kind-of the plot of Macbeth.

  2. When discussing new girl I like how you talked about the importantce of the masculinity that both Jess and Lady Macbeth posses. I also see the connection between the two different characters.I think nick in this series could be Macbeth because he is constantly is trying to prove himself to others. However, most of the time these endevors fall short and do not end well for him.

  3. I'd like to second the first two comments and add that for Breaking Bad, it's kind of interesting how the change in heart of the wife occurred oppositely. In the beginning, Skyler disapproved of Walt's business but eventually began to help him, and in Macbeth, Lady Macbeth is originally on his side, and encouraging him, but then begins to doubt everything. Great connection also with New Girl, and I would have liked to hear about the connection to Harry Potter (Hermoine?)

  4. I'd like to applaud your choices since they included New Girl and HP<333 I don't know how much I agree with Lady MacBeth connecting to Jess because she is so innocent, but I do see a bit of the masculine point you made in her. I haven't seen breaking bad, so I don't really know how to relate to that, but I can see her as similar to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named with his thirst for power. Overall, I think Lady MacBeth would definitely watch some of these shows. Good blog Matthaniel!
